The X5-s is the base model. The X5-w is similar, but has the added features of being waterproof and sprayproof, and has an extended warranty programme to maintain its sealing integrity. The X5-i is the intrinsically safe version, designed for use in hazardous environments. In the near future, Infostream will be releasing the X5-r pager version, which will add a long range back channel communication capability to the X5-w. There are a set of common accessories available, including plastic holsters, leather holsters and software development kits.
X5-s Pager
The X5-S is a pager specifically designed for emergency services personnel who must be able to use their pager at all times, even under extreme conditions. It is very tough – it has a bright screen that can be seen through smoke and dust, a loud alert that can be heard amidst chaos, and simple pronounced buttons for ease of use, even with gloved hands. The X5-s is an exact solution to the demands of emergency services personnel for a compact, resilient and flexible pager that can deliver informative, crystal clear information to crucial personel.

X5 Pager Accessories
Additional charger units can be supplied separately. These include the mains power adapter.
Wall or desk mounted multi chargers units are available. The picture below shows the 6 unit charger:
The X5 Plastic Holster is an exceptionally strong, high impact holster that is designed to hold the X5 series pager. It has protective curved edges to stop the pager being damaged whilst being worn, and includes openings to ensure that the alert signals are heard or seen.
The Holster enables a person to:
The X5 Leather Holster is a genuine, high-quality leather holster for the X5 series pagers.
It is designed to fit onto wide belts, and has a magnetic latch that enables easy retrieval and storage.
The holster is designed to ensure that alerts can be easily heard or seen, and has an auto-on off trigger when a pager is stored or retrieved from the holster.
X5 Software Development Kit
The X5 Software Development Kit is a complete software system for designing and debugging programmes that control the X5 pager operation.
With this kit developers can create new and unique functionality for the X5 pager, supplementing the existing features of the X5, or replacing them entirely. Developers can create an entirely custom application for the X5, with custom menus, displays and behaviours. Alternatively, if the developer wishes to retain the existing X5 functionality, they can create up to two plug-in applications which appear on the main menu, alongside the existing menu items.
The X5 Programming Terminal is designed for those organizations who desire to have local control over the programming and provisioning of their X5 pagers. The Terminal is a self-contained unit that can either be connected to an Intranet or can be used in isolation with an Infra-red connector to programme X5 devices.
The Terminal provides all the functionality of the Web-Based Programming tool and manages the records of each X5 device under management. New devices can be added with either local updates through the USB port, or through access to the Internet.
The Programming Terminal maintains a database of all X5 units under its control and can be accessed across an intranet using a standard web browser. Alternatively, the unit can be isolated with a direct attached screen and browser, and X5 units can be programmed using the supplied infrared cable connector.
X5 Pagers can be programmed and configured using the Web Programming Tool. Users with a valid logon can create profiles, capcode assignments and upgrade firmware by connecting to the Web Programming Tool from a computer with either an Infra-red port or an Infra-red Cable.
Also available is a high speed Infrared connection cable that simplifies the connection of the X5 to a computer terminal. It is a plug and play unit that can simply be installed in either a Windows, a Linux or a Macintosh computer system.
